Smoovies

Here lately, we are ALL about smoothies at our house.  (SO easy--ice, frozen fruit, plain yogurt, and milk.)  Tonight, when the girls were in the tub, Molly asked if we could please, please have a "smoovie."  And being the softy that I am, we got into PJs and went downstairs to make smoothies.  I love how Molly has her smoothie in one hand and her paci in the other.  :-)

Spring in February

This weekend has felt like Spring!  It has been beautiful!  We spent a lot of time outside this weekend soaking up the sunshine.
And warm days are a great excuse for ice cream cones!  Only at Nana's house do you get to eat ice cream cones on a fancy couch without being scolded.  :-)

Social Security Card!

Our Molly--an American Citizen for 2 and 1/2 years now--FINALLY got her social security card today!  This seemed like such a big step because it means that everything is really final.  With the exception of our yearly post-placement reports, all of our "adoption work" is complete.  With no more "adoption work" hanging over our heads, I think Brian and I have the energy to start the process again!!  :-)

Happy Weekend!

We had a fun weekend!  Cooper gave Molly a Hello Kitty piggy bank that you get to paint yourself.  Molly woke up Saturday morning asking to paint it.  She LOVES crafts and she loves Hello Kitty so this was a hit!  Thanks Cooper!

Rayna wanted in on the action so we let her paint with our magic paint pens.  They only show up on our special paint paper so it limits the mess.  :-)
Aunt Marie came for a visit on Saturday!  We had a great time hanging out with Aunt Marie.  Poor Rayna didn't get a lot of Aunt Marie time.  Molly isn't very good at sharing her Auntie.  I don't think she let Aunt Marie out of her sight all day.
Love this picture!  Aunt Marie's head was supposed to be in this picture, but it didn't quite happen.  Little wiggle worms!
Tonight we had a special Life Group because it was our friend Krista's 30th birthday!  It must be so hard being 30!  :-)  Rayna had chocolate cake for the first time tonight.  She thought it was pretty amazing!
Who do you think wins the "cheesy grin" award in this photo?

Happy Valentine's Day (a little late)

It's our yearly tradition to celebrate Valentine's Day with our friends the Hendricks.  We had a great time going out for dinner, playing at the park, and going out for ice cream.  And next year (possibly next month!) we will have baby Avonlea to celebrate with us!

                   February Friend Fun!

We've been having a lot of fun with our friends this week!  Earlier this week, we got together for dinner with our friends, the Hiltons.  Michelle and I had a great time hanging out while all of our kids played.  At one point, they all had instruments and we had a whole band--very cute!
Brian worked yesterday, so the girls and I went to the park and to Chic-fil-a with my friend Denise and her two kids J.C. and Ana.  It's been so nice the last few days--we've been spending LOTS of time going outside and to the park.

Rayna Slides

With all of the park trips we've been making, Rayna had learned how to slide.  She backs herself down backwards and goes down on her belly.  It is so cute and she just LOVES it.  She will slide again and again as long as you let her.  It's a great way for her to burn off some of her energy!

Walking with our babies......

Molly and I love talking a walk around the block with our babies!  Our babies have grown and we've both upgraded our carriers since the "olden days" of 2009.  :-)

Pigtails!

I gave Rayna her first pigtails today!  Pushing her "bangs" over to the side is my attempt to hide the fact that she has a mullet her hair is a little longer in the back than the front.  I tell you--there's nothing cuter than a little girl with pigtails!

February Fun

I know this is not my first blog post for February....and I know I am probably going to sound old when I say this...but I can't believe it's already February!?  Where did January go?  For that matter, wasn't it just summertime?  It seems like the older I get the faster time goes.  Anyway, so far we are having a good February.  We've had a day here and there where it's been warm enough to spend some time outside.  We went on a nice, long walk yesterday but we were all pretty frozen when we got home.  Last weekend really spoiled us!

Our friend Scottie was in town and we got to hang out with her today.  It was so great to see her!  And we watched the Superbowl with our friends the McArthurs and the Wilsons.  It was a good weekend!

15 Months

Rayna had her 15 month check-up today.  At  15 months, Rayna is 33 inches (95th percentile) and 23 lbs (50th percentile.)  We recently made the decision to take the girls back to Dr. Twerdi.  I liked our new pediatrician, but the last several times we saw her, we were at the doctor's office for THREE hours.  That is way too long to spend with little children in a doctor's office.  So we decided if we were going to dedicate so much time to our doctor's appointment, we might as well spend the time in the comfort of our mini-van and seeing the best pediatrician in the world.

I questioned my decision when we were sitting in traffic in Charlotte today, but ultimately I think it's a good move for us.  It was so great seeing Dr. Twerdi!  She said that we have a healthy, beautiful baby girl!

Mommy Moment
This picture was taken by my wonderful father-in-law on Thanksgiving.  He gives me a hard time about taking so many pictures so he got a hold of my camera and took MY picture.  Brian made some comment about how "we'd never see THAT one on the blog."  Shows how much he knows!
So I update on the girls all the time, but don't ever get around to updating about Brian or me.  So here's a Mommy update! I know this entry is going to be way TMI for some of you, but I'm going to post it anyway for a couple of reasons.  First of all, many some a couple of people may be interested in my gastrointestinal health.  The second (and major) reason for posting this is that I want to remember it later. I am a very busy mommy and teacher and my blog tends to serve as my memory.  :-)

About eight or so years ago, I was in my apartment at college and fixed myself a snack of broccoli and cauliflower.  Afterward, I had SEVERE stomach pains.  Ever since then, I haven't been able to eat raw broccoli.  Lately, it seems like I'm adding more and more raw vegetables to the "bad" list.  One day last week, I had a chef salad for lunch and by that afternoon I was in terrible pain.  So I finally decided that it was time to pay a visit to the doctor.  Our doctor is great, but he is in Charlotte.  I was looking for a more local doctor, and a lot of people said they loved Dr. Guthman, so I saw him today.  The good news is that Dr. Guthman was really nice and very proactive.  I'm going to have an ultrasound to rule out any issues with my pancreas and gallbladder.  Then I'm going to see a gastroenterologist--so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of all of this pain.  The bad news is that every doctor visit means a co-pay---ugghhhhh!  I am very thankful to have health insurance, but those co-pays add up so fast!

So......that's your update on Mommy!  Stayed tuned for more exciting news in the adventures of my gut!
