Molly's Haircut

I've been cutting Brian's hair for several years now and love the money it saves us. I was cutting his hair this morning and talking about how Molly needed a haircut. I got brave and cut her hair for the first time! I was pretty impressed with how good the back looked, so I made the impulsive decision to give her bangs too. I've been playing with the idea of bangs for Molly because she keeps getting all of this new hair which is always hanging down in her face. I think she looks adorable with her new little bangs! Granted, this kid couldn't be anything other than adorable!

The Hines Salon is pretty professional. We give lollipops!

Rayna watched all of the action from her Bumbo seat.
"Oh, no......am I next?!"

Ticklish

Our little princess is ticklish! She always smiles when we tickle her, but tonight when I was getting her ready for bed, she laughed! What a precious sound!

This Weekend...

We had a very low-key weekend. With the exception of Rayna, all of us have been fighting some kind of yuck. As you can see from the pictures, Molly has some kind of eye thing going on. She woke up yesterday morning with her eye swollen shut. Not sure what it was, but today her eye is almost completely back to normal. I feel fine, but have no voice. And Brian has some kind of yucky cold. Hopefully all of our ailments will be short-lived and Rayna will stay healthy in the meantime. I did get to do some things that had been hanging over my head like cleaning out the girls' closets. The highlight of the weekend was a visit from Anna and James. Anna's mom made these ADORABLE matching hats for all of us. Are they not the cutest things?! She is so talented!

Molly Moment

It's time for a Molly update! This girl is growing and changing everyday and we just think she's about the sweetest thing ever! (Even on the days when she is acting VERY two!)

I am SO bad about getting videos of the girls (seriously, I don't even have anything from Christmas.) So my new goal is to upload a video with every update. They just change so fast and I want to capture every stage!

Molly,

You were so much fun this month! We celebrated Christmas and you had a great time! You were so surprised to see all of the presents under the tree on Christmas morning. You wanted to play with each present after you opened it--I guess you wanted to show your appreciation for each gift! You got a kitchen set for Christmas and you love to cook for everyone.

You continue to be such a good big sister. You love Rayna so much. You are always trying to make her happy and don't like hearing her cry. You're still very sweet to Rayna, but you have started to show some jelousy. You have been acting like a baby--wanting to be carried a lot and wanting your paci all of the time--particularly if we are busy with Rayna. Mommy, Daddy, and Nana have all been trying to spend alone time with you as much as possible and you really enjoy it.

You learned to blow bubbles this month! You think this is the greatest thing ever! You tried so hard over the summer, but always blew too hard. Now you've figured out how and you have the BEST time blowing bubbles. I can't wait until you can go outside more this summer.

You've been better about taking a bath lately. You still don't love it, but we can talk you into it--especially if Rayna is getting a bath. You still don't like having your hair washed or getting water in your face, but you do like to pretend to take a shower. After Mommy or Daddy get out of the shower, you like to get in (with the water off) and pretend to wash your hair.

You are talking and understanding so much! You still call bananas "yabas," but stopped calling soap "pelp"--I was really kind of sad the first time you said "soap." You are growing up too fast!

You love playing on the computer and sometimes push buttons you aren't supposed to push! You recently turned the whole screen upside down! Not sure how you did that--but luckily Daddy was able to fix it! Grandpa and Grandma got you your own computer for Christmas--a pretty pink laptop!

You like to hear music in the car. We told you that the music is music for Jesus so now when you get into the car you say, "I hear music! That music for Baby Jesus?" So cute!

Every night when I kiss you goodnight and leave your room I say, "I love you, Molly!" And usually you just watch me leave or start looking at your books--but every once in awhile you give me the "I love you" sign and say "I yove you, Mommy!" It absolutely melts my heart!

We love you, Sweet Girl!

Happy Birthday, Dr. King!

Happy birthday, Dr. King! Thank you for the sacrifices you made. Thank you for allowing God to use you to accomplish His will. Thank you for making the world a better place for my children. Thank you for dreaming big. :-)

I was off of work today in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. I had a great three day weekend with my family. We didn't do much--but I loved spending time with my husband and my girls! It was so pretty today that we even got outside for awhile. Tomorrow is back to work! Rayna did a great job with the bottle this weekend, so we are saying a little prayer that things continue to go smoothly.

Back to School......for Mommy!

This was my first week back at work and there's good news and bad news. The good news is that I had a great first week at work. I loved seeing my kids again and I can't believe how much they've matured. I LOVE seeing their growth! I've also been feeling good at work because Rayna has been sleeping well at night. Last night she only woke up once!

The bad news is that she's had a rough time adjusting to the change. I think the biggest issue is the bottle. We've been giving her one bottle a day to get her used to it, but she's not a huge fan and is NOT excited about having to take one all day long. But everyday has gotten a little better and Nana said that today was a really good day. (Praise God!) Just so that we don't regress, this weekend I'm going to be giving her a bottle between 8:00-2:00 and only nursing her in the mornings and afternoons/evenings. It has been so hard to be a work when my baby is unhappy at home. I feel badly for my mom, Molly, and especially Rayna. But we're praying that she continues to adjust to her new routine. And I'm so happy to have the next three days off to spend with both of my babies!

We've had some fun times this week! We had dinner out with our friends the Hendricks. We had our favorite--Qdoba! As always, Molly had a great time with Cooper!
Tonight our friends the Robertsons came over for dinner. They brought Chinese--yum! We had a great time catching up with Josh, Brooke, and baby Damari. And just because they are so adorable, here are a few more pictures of my little girls:

Chunky Monkey!
Cutie Pie!
My friend Alicia gave us this adorable outfit for Rayna--right down to the little purple shoes.
I love it!

Weekend Pictures

We had a fun weekend! Great way to end my maternity leave. Yes.... I'm going back to work tomorrow. The last 10 weeks have flown! If you think about it, pray for our family as we make this adjustment. I'm excited about seeing 22 little people in the morning, and SO sad to be leaving 2 other little people. But they will be in good hands with their Nana! :-)

Twenty Ten

My friend Amy gave me this great idea. At the start of every year, her family makes a memory box for the new year. At the end of the year, they go back and look through their box. I thought this would be a fun thing to start while the girls are babies so that we can go back and look at places we've gone, things we've done, and memories we've made. I'm also excited to see how the boxes change throughout the years. This year Molly finger-painted the lid, we colored the numbers together, and then she glued them on. (She thought she was hot stuff getting to use a glue stick!) I can't wait to see what this year (and this box!) has to hold for the Hines Family!

Two Months Old

Our sweet baby girl is two months old! She turned two months old on the 2nd, but I wanted to wait until her doctor's appointment today before I wrote her two month update. She is such a sweet baby and we just love her to pieces!

Rayna,

You are two months old! We have had such much fun with you in the last two months! You are a happy baby and LOVE to be held. You like to be held facing out so that you can see what's going on. You learned how to do something very exciting this month--you learned to smile! You have the sweetest little smile! You have also started cooing which is the greatest sound!

You love your big sister. You love to watch her and she gets more smiles out of you than any of the rest of us. You like to look at yourself in the mirror on your bouncy seat and you smile at yourself in the mirror. You like to watch people around you--especially when they are talking or eating. You like to suck on your paci or on your hands if you can find them.

You are getting better about sleeping in your crib although you'd MUCH rather be in bed with Daddy and Mommy and don't understand why you can't just sleep there all of the time. You sleep pretty well at night, but you don't like taking naps during the day. There are many days that Molly sleeps more than you do! Nana says that this is payback for my lack of naps as an infant! :-)

At 2 months, you are 12lbs 9oz and 23 1/2 inches long--you are in the 90th percentile for both weight and height!

You are such a sweet baby and we love you so much!

Terrific Tuesday!

Today was a terrific day! We had lots of little friends over to play--the Donahue, Leon, and Rhodes children all came over to our house for a big play date. Because it's been so cold lately, we've pretty much been stuck inside the house for the last couple of weeks. Even though it was still too cold to play outside, the children had a great time playing inside!
