I know that Molly is small for her age and Rayna is big for her age. It's obvious from the hand-me-down pictures that Rayna is wearing clothes that Molly wore when she was much older. But for some reason, this little pink outfit really put it into perspective for me. I remember putting this outfit on Molly all winter and wondering if she would ever grow into it. So when I pulled it out for Rayna, I remembered how HUGE it was and thought, "oh, this should be a good fit for Rayna."

Here's Molly wearing the outfit at 12 months. (This is actually her first birthday.)

Isn't it funny?! And the REALLY funny thing is how your child can be (less than) 5th percentile on the growth chart or (greater than) 95th percentile on the growth chart, and still be the perfect size!

The reason I worry when my children are quiet:

The bad news: Rayna ate a marker.
The good news: Rayna ate a washable, non-toxic marker.

Is it my imagination, or does she look rather pleased with herself?

Happy Birthday to Nana!!

Speaking of Nana.....today is Nana's birthday! 10/10/10--what an exciting day for a birthday! We had fun celebrating with Nana. Molly pretty much made her cake with me as her assistant. That girl LOVES being in the kitchen. She can crack an egg with one hand--seriously! I've got to get it on video! She was so excited about Nana's birthday--I can't imagine how she's going to be later this month when it's HER birthday!

Nana is such an important part of our lives. She's investing so much into the lives of our girls by being with them all day while we are at work. And I just can't imagine it any other way. She is AMAZING with them and they love her! (See previous post!) Nana is such a blessing! We love you, Nana!!

A Couple of Reasons I LOVE Fall Break.....

Pierced Ears and Ponytails

Our babies are growing up! Molly has been asking for earrings for about a year now. We told her that it would hurt a little, but she was sure she still wanted it done. We decided that three would be a good age. She was old enough for us to prepare her, but too young to really dwell on the decision. (I got mine pierced at five and chickened out twice before following through with it.) She did GREAT! She cried a little, but after a lollipop and a sticker, she quickly forgot about it and was SO excited. She couldn't wait to show Daddy (he'd taken Rayna out--she's an empathetic crier.) She's turning into such a big girl!


And Molly's not the only one growing up! I gave Rayna her first little ponytail today. LOVE the little whale-spout! I gave Molly her first ponytail at 11 months, too. Granted, I had a little more to work with. :-P

11 Months

I just cannot believe that this time next month, we will be celebrating my baby's first birthday! Where have the last 11 months gone?!

She is still such a sweet baby. She loves to be held or carried in the Ergo. But she's good at entertaining herself as well. (Granted, this is part of the reason she gets into more trouble than her big sister ever thought of getting into at her age!) This month she has learned to play peek-a-boo which is just adorable. When you say, "where's Rayna?" she will cover up one eye.

She's taking lots of steps, but still crawls more than she walks. She's still a good eater and will eat just about anything you put in front of her. She doesn't take a bottle anymore. She nurses three times a day and drinks her milk from a cup. She's also lost interest in the paci which makes me happy since our oldest daughter is such a paci addict. :-) She has really become a pretty good sleeper. She sleeps 12-13 hours at night and takes at least one decent nap a day.
