So Ethan is *NOT* having surgery today after all. We got to the hospital and found out that at Novant only one parent is allowed to be with child. The other parent has to wait in the main lobby and/or cafeteria. (Not even in the surgical waiting room). We were going to be spending a couple of days at the hospital and this is the same rule while inpatient. So we made a split second decision to go to Atrium. We called our surgeon who said he totally understood. (Thankfully he goes to both hospitals so we have this choice).
Let me say that I totally understand limiting the number of people coming into the hospital (although I do think it's weird to have an unlimited amount of people in the lobby and cafeteria). But I think the hospitals are doing the best they can and making decisions based on what they think is best for the patient. I also realize that they could change the rules at any minute at Atrium and not allow both parents. And I definitely realize this is a first world problem. I realize that children travel to this country for medical treatment with only one parent. But for this morning, Ethan was crying for Daddy, I was anxious about surgery (as I've always been since losing Zeke), and we just weren't mentally prepared to be separated. So we made the decision to postpone. It was a lot of weigh in a short time but we are trusting that since we both felt like we should postpone, it was from God. As soon as the surgeon's office opens, I'm going to call our nurse and get the surgery rescheduled.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers for Ethan and our family. ❤️
